You can only destroy/eviscerate someone (qua arguments) if they have an equal and fair chance to respond.
@SIN_Notung Hmmm. So your claim is that once a person is dead, then their arguments can't be destroyed...

@PhilosophyExp Well I'm really talking about those times where someone yells at someone for 10 minutes. ;) -
@PhilosophyExp When I see it I'm always thinking "hey, just let's see if they have a response - maybe they have a response". -
@SIN_Notung But ultimately whether an argument works or not is something to be determined in the court of universal reason, yes? -
@PhilosophyExp Yeah, from the perspective of the ideas/arguments etc, but I'm talking about 'destroying' people. -
@PhilosophyExp e.g. if someone says "watch Hitchens get EVISCERATED" I'm always wondering that he might have had a good response. -
@SIN_Notung of whether they have responded...? We have to allow that to be the case. -
@PhilosophyExp I'd still be reluctant to say that Ham had been *himself* destroyed unless he'd failed to respond well to the objections. -
@PhilosophyExp TBH I don't like even saying arguments are 'destroyed' since clever people can often defend them ;)

@PhilosophyExp But to answer your question, I'd bite the bullet- 'destroying' a dead person in an argument doesn't seem like a fair fight! Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
