Is it wrong that I feel more depressed when I hear a story about a priceless artifact stolen/lost/destroyed than, say, a murder? Maybe...
@SIN_Notung But if you watched a murder in progress, I'd bet you'd be very keen to prevent it, even if it meant sacrificing artefact....

@PhilosophyExp I was just thinking that exact thing actually, and I agree, I almost certainly would save the person. -
@SIN_Notung victim. (Given how many victims there are, how much suffering there is in the world, etc). -
@PhilosophyExp I think that's mostly it, but there is a sense that we're all just going to die anyway, but the Mona Lisa 'should' live on. -
@PhilosophyExp As in, it's a connection to an artist/period that would be lost not by us, but by future generations too; makes it worse. -
@PhilosophyExp But you're right that I would still use Mona Lisa as a weapon against ISIS, even with that in mind. ;) -
@SIN_Notung do - and what one would actually do if one were in the midst of the situation, etc. And that might work in both directions - -
@PhilosophyExp Yeah, I get that & agree.
