I begin to wonder if support for Ched Evans motivated by men realising they've committed rape & don't want to think of themselves as rapists
@SteveCooke I think that's why (many) people balk against the drunk means no consent thing. See, also, the Harvard law professors recent

@PhilosophyExp if we act wrongly when drunk we're morally responsible, but it we're wronged then we only have part causal responsibility. -
@SteveCooke Trouble is, in the case of a sexual encounter, it isn't always obvious who it is that is acting...pic.twitter.com/IBDSGNILLB

@PhilosophyExp sure - it's a difficult moral minefield, but equally there will be clear cases of culpability & think these are underplayed. -
@SteveCooke Agreed. But in almost all the discussions I've seen about the issue, people agree that obvious, extreme drunkeness means rape. -
@PhilosophyExp maybe that's because the discussions we see are generally between nice liberal intelligentsia? -
@SteveCooke Yes, possibly. Plus, there's something about football culture, & the way women are seen that is... problematic. -
@PhilosophyExp very much so, but thankfully that is (very slowly) improving.
