@JakCharlton I think the things I was talking about commit a genetic fallacy - but I accept that origins might be significant in some cases. -
@sin_notung origins can be relevant to explain the current situation, can even be the same, but are not guaranteed to - hence the fallacy -
@JakCharlton Right exactly - and in this case the origins do not discredit the concerns that almost everyone on the hashtag has. -
@sin_notung as per the common case of these things, cherry picking is rife to prove/disprove the origin/intent, avoiding arguing the 'now'
