@PhilosophyExp But he did! He hated that kind of thing, being aware that we are always objectified by the look of the other, atheist or not.
I suppose when Sartre suggested that hell is other people he didn't have atheist conventions & conferences in mind...

@emmyzen Sure, but Sartre is ambivalent abt objectification, because it's the way we recognize subjectivity of others (cf the look). -
@PhilosophyExp Only early Sartre of BN. Later Sartre has learnt that others are allies in the creation of community and cooperation. -
@emmyzen I stopped after B&N (took me about a year to digest that work - that was enough). I have read "Huis Clos" several times, though! :) -
