If we built an artificial intelligence that said it was conscious and we believed it, what happens to the "explanatory gap"?

If we knew exactly why a conscious artificial intelligence had thoughts about it being conscious, what exactly would be left to explain?

@PhilosophyExp I can't see how a physical brain can contain evidence-based beliefs about an explanatory gap. Where does the evidence arise? -
