What the hell's a gerund when it's at home!? This is what happens when you leave school at 16... you end up not knowing about gerunds. Tsk!
@johnthejack @mollydot I think you're right. So what's a participle when it's at home (that's a serious question - I don't know!)? :)

@PhilosophyExp@mollydot It's form of a verb: sitting is present participle sat is past participle -
@johnthejack@mollydot Ah ha! Thanks! Hopefully I'll remember that. :) -
@PhilosophyExp@mollydot Sure. Difficulty is spotting gerund as have to work out whether used as participle or as gerund -
@johnthejack@PhilosophyExp Very confused,cos to me participles are the little words used in Japanese instead of prepositions & to mark case -
@mollydot@PhilosophyExp I don't know any Japanese, but is it possible those are ''particles''? http://japanese.about.com/blparticles.htm -
@johnthejack@PhilosophyExp Oops! Yes. So I was more confused than I thought, but am less confused now :-) -
@mollydot@PhilosophyExp Hehe. Grammar can be very confusing. And often the pedants are the most confused of all. -
@johnthejack@PhilosophyExp True. I am both a pedant and confused :-) - 1 more reply
