@mollydot ok - key stat - only 26% of 71153 people who are *not* utilitarians think the fat man should be sacrificed. This suggests fatness

@philosophyexp Is that 26% of people who disavowed utilitarianism, or 26% of people who didn't eg divert the train?

@mollydot I'll check the didn't divert the train. Not diverting the train, but throwing the fat man off would be very odd. Interesting! :)

@philosophyexp IIRC, that's the only example where the person you'd sacrifice/torture isn't (known to be) fat.

@mollydot Only 7% of those who choose *not* to divert train throw fat man off bridge. So again, it doesn't look like fatness is big factor.

@philosophyexp ...settled on an answer in the variation where it's not the driver, but someone at the points who makes the decision.

@mollydot Yeah.I have the same intuition about turning but not throwing. I'm also not entirely sure why! It's interesting. :)
