I just entered the Chester Half Marathon. I feel a bit sick now. Commitment & public announcement are great fitness motivators though.
@SteveCooke Good luck! How far are you running in training at the moment? Are you aiming for a particular time?

@PhilosophyExp I run 5k every weekend & throw in occasional longer runs when I have time. My best 10k time's 46mins, my aim is 1:45. -
@SteveCooke That's a decent 10km time. My best half was 2 x best 10km time plus 7 minutes so 1:45 definitely realistic. :) -
@PhilosophyExp That's good to know. I'm pleased with the 10k time - it's 1m slower than my first run of last year, which was 5k. -
@SteveCooke So you're now running at more than double the speed you were!? If so, good going! -
@PhilosophyExp I am indeed. My best 5k is 21:24 - breaking 22:30 was a hell of a feeling. Aiming for sub 21 this year. -
@SteveCooke Go for it! (Are these ParkRuns?) I remember my 5km pb. I can still hardly believe that such a short distance can hurt so much :) -
@PhilosophyExp aye - I love the Parkruns, they've been really motivating, friendly, & without the nasty edge that can come with competing. -
@SteveCooke I left the UK before they really got started, but I'm hoping to do one when I'm next in the country. They look fun.
