@PhilosophyExp Sure, but such behaviour doesn't seem to prevent progress 'in real life'.

@sjzara But such behaviour might well show the limits of "progress" & humanity's capacity for fellow feeling, empathy, civility, etc

@PhilosophyExp @sjzara Religious or not, humans are tribal, not rational. Recent events show this clearly. I share your pessimism, Jeremy.

@PaulaSKirby The tribal thing - in-groups/out-groups - is key. Difficult coz how does one object to tribal behavior without becoming tribal?

@PaulaSKirby Exactly. I was just thinking, "Fuck it, I have to run a marathon on Sunday with an injury, online atheism not my problem." :)

@PhilosophyExp I have lost all interest in atheism. Still atheist. But atheist tribalism & irrationality no better than the religious kind.
