Must remember to put the . in at the start when I reply to people.
@Metamagician But only if you want your reply to be visible to everybody who follows you.

@PhilosophyExp Yes, but I usually do. Though not so much this time. ;) - End of conversation

@PhilosophyExp@metamagician Is THAT what the . is for? So WITH dot, all followers can see? Without, just the person referred to? -
@PaulaSKirby@metamagician The way I'm doing it now means only people who follow us both will see the tweet in their feed (by default). -
@PhilosophyExp@metamagician Thanks. I'd been going a bit dotty trying to work out what that was all about :) -
@PaulaSKirby Yeah, basically the dot is a way of making sure the @ sign isn't the first character of the tweet. If the @ is the first 1/2 -
@PhilosophyExp@PaulaSKirby Which subverts a convention put in place to avoid overwhelming my timeline with convos I'm not interested in. -
@agarzola Sure, but you shouldn't do it unless the tweet at least makes sense as a standalone. Otherwise you're going to lose followers.
