@PhilosophyExp - In the final scenario, all 6 die or one dies, but in the surgeon one, the backpacker wouldn't have died?
@mcknick85 No, because the train has to be turned to loop otherwise it just carries straight on. Maybe I need to make that clearer...

@mcknick85 You have a point. But oddly it isn't any more clear in Judith Jarvis Thomson's original treatment of the problem. -
@PhilosophyExp I thought the 5 would die, trolley would loop and kill the individual making it kill one save 5 compared to all 6 dying -
