Why do people on the internet trot out the line "respect must be earned" as if that's self-evidently true? It isn't.

@blondgecko So -1 = assumption of bad faith; 0 = suspicion; 1 = assumption of good faith.

@PhilosophyExp In reality I suppose it's a multidimensional space - i.e. (1,-1) = good faith, but dumb as a brick. -
