If you're male, & you believe the fact you like "feminine" things is a sign you're not a man, but rather "non-binary", it means at some level you don't believe femininity is compatible with manhood. The corollary of this view is that masculinity is incompatible with womanhood.

The notion that "woman" properly understood means femininity is tediously & boringly sexist. So if you're male, & you make a big deal about the fact you like pink, and then you declare you're "non-binary", you're not really selling your feminist credentials. Just saying.

Non-binary seems to reinforce the stereotype that you cant be a Man AND enjoy things which are typically seen as feminine. It seem to slap in the face of feminism trying to break down gender stereotypes.

Exactly! People think this is progressive but all I see is old fashioned sexism and stereotyping.

As a child at junior school I refused to do woodwork (with the boys) and got the school to let me do needlework (with the girls) simply because I thought it would be more fun. I never thought it made me a girl

Me too! I was the first boy to ever do needlework in my school - this was 1974!

I hated needlework. Myself and another girl were the first to do woodwork in the 6th form, also in the 1970's. Interestingly tho my grandfather embroidered his regimental crest as a soldier during WW1 yet he was the one who gave me that love of woodwork. Aren't we all non binary?pic.twitter.com/9WJaPg17Tv

It is ultimately a sexist outlook that reinforces stereotypes

Feminine things like boats and ships? Masculine things like Hockey? Rugby? All stuff is interchangeable. This categorizing of feminine vs masculine things is sad. We shouldn't fall for it. Roman soldiers wore skirts.

Yup - they believe that liking feminine things makes you a failed man - and failed men must be kicked out of manhood. So progressive.

Yep all those non-binary people are actually the most binary, and all those pushing transgenderism on kids as a diagnosis because a boy likes pink or a girl likes trucks are regressive as well.

Yep, I’ve yet to see a definition of trans that doesn’t rely entirely on sexist stereotypes.
