/history of feminism was that one. I think it was “woman”=“social role”. That unfortunately shifted reference of discussion away from females in principle (though not all discrimination, that stayed - go figure), and put us on slippery slope towards gender identity as feeling.

Dawkins makes this point in The Extended Phenotype (I think). People think it's hard to change effects of biology & easy to change effects of socialization. But that's not right. Can be more or less difficult to change either.
