What it describes is completely bonkers. Utterly insane. A woman expresses excitement about a trip to India, and then is monstered by a bunch of vicious, virtue-signalling activist types.
It does perfectly demonstrate that you should never take a backward step or apologize in this situation. Tell them that you see their bullying, power grab for what it is, & that they can go fuck themselves. Then ignore them completely. Don't engage, don't show vulnerability.
People get off on righteously crushing the morally repugnant Other. Especially if they're getting social media cookies from their in-group for doing so. Deprive them of the payoff. Even if it's hurting, don't capitulate - post pictures of yourself doing happy things.
My god. It's also absolutely comic. They're falling over one another to satririse themselves. If only there weren't real world effects...
