I'm not a fan Twitter mobbing, really, but it is amusingly gratifying to watch a bunch of (mainly) British women taking down woke American intellectual types, almost always beardy men, after they tweet something asinine about "transphobia" for cookies & kudos.

Realise you were simplifying but *slightly* unfair given Reagan & Thatcher were simultaneous and eg Hayek was Austrian & British as much as American. 'The Road to Serfdom' was v popular in Britain pre-Thatcher. We have that tradition but also luckily more of a counter-tradition.

We don't have the same Puritan inheritance in the UK, plus our industrial history (cf E P Thompson) makes class much more culturally significant. Emergence of new Right in UK was seen as aberrant (the end of the postwar consensus).
