Really, today is campus censoriousness day in my twitter feed. Here is another initiative prompted by students, abetted by legislators, to get a professor fired for private remarks against the police. Sheesh. https://www.davisenterprise.com/local-news/ucd-students-rally-to-fire-anti-police-professor/ … 1/

My support for free expression on campus is based on liberal principles. But one of the reasons I think it is crucial for the Left to defend this principle is that the Right has political power at the moment, and it is hard to resist this power if faculty are not consistent. 2/

Of course, as usual,
@TheFIREorg is consistent and on the case. https://www.thefire.org/fire-warns-university-of-california-davis-against-investigating-professors-anti-police-tweets/ … This is not incitement. via@adamsteinbaugh 3/2 replies 2 retweets 16 likesShow this thread -
This is precisely incitement. C'mon! Calling for the violence against anyone is incitement. Replace your name for the word cops in any of the quotes.

No it’s not. Replace any abstract group. Not named individuals. There is a clear distinction there. Could you say “Nazis should be killed”? Or “Let’s kill pedophiles”?

Oh come on, the fact it refers to an abstract group doesn't rule out incitement. If I'm at a far right rally, and I lead a bunch of skinheads in a chant of "Kill Pakis", then that's incitement. Not saying it's incitement in this case, but... your reasons need work.
