Do you want your ideological adversaries to be miserable - you know, have unfortunate things happen to them in their lives? I don't. I don't know why I don't, but I don't. Not even the people who murdered my brother. Maybe because I've got no skin in the game...?

That was always the thought I had about punishing the people who killed my brother. Why would you want to shove another pile of misery on top of the misery that had already been caused? Didn't seem to serve justice.

I’m pretty certain, for one reason or another, I would feel the same in a similar situation.

Perhaps if they(we?) understood the misfortunes we all have, being adversaries would seem pointless.

I don't want unfortunate things to happen to people just for the sake of their displeasure, but some of the things I would like to happen would be considered unfortunate by my ideological adversaries. Their displeasure is just a side effect, not the goal. I don't take joy in it.
