The comment you quote is way beyond acceptable rhetoric, even in an impassioned debate like this.

I hadn't seen it. It's appalling, obviously. I hope it's an extreme minority and that most trans rights activists would disavow such language.

I don't think most trans activists would disavow such language (I'm not certain, obviously). Have you come across the San Francisco library "punch terfs" display?https://www.feministcurrent.com/2018/05/01/trans-activism-become-centered-justifying-violence-women-time-allies-speak/ …

I assume this stuff is intended as rhetoric and that these people don't really approve of extra-judicial corporal and capital punishment, but as I said about another comment posted earlier today, it's way beyond acceptable bounds.
-
I think the rhetoric can easily escalate into violence (especially if people are acting in groups). You know about the Maria Maclachlan case? https://www.feministcurrent.com/2018/04/27/trans-identified-male-tara-wolf-charged-assault-hyde-park-attack/ … (FWIW, I would have headlined this piece that way).
-
Sorry, that should have read I *wouldn't* have headlined it that way.
