*sigh* - yet another article that discusses whether we ought to be vegan by considering the health & environmental benefits whilst utterly ignoring the moral status of non-human animals. Stop making ethical arguments that utterly ignore important morally relevant considerations!https://twitter.com/_ISRF/status/1085579886868213761 …

Ah, authored by the same chap who defended massaging/faking data to fit your conclusions. Why am I not surprised? Start with a conclusion, find some arguments to justify it, ignore anything that doesn't fit.https://www.timeshighereducation.com/opinion/massaging-data-fit-theory-not-worst-research-sin …

If you want to be led down a rabbit hole of insanity, you should check out how the author of that piece managed to get himself banned from editing Wikipedia...

You've no idea! Seriously. The fellow once wrote a piece calling Nick Cohen, Julian Baggini & I fascists. If you can get it to load: https://web.archive.org/web/20121031053748/http://www.philosophical-investigations.org/British_Science_Fascists … There's other even more insane stuff (e.g., an accusation that Julian & I were backed by the CIA).

My word! I have been reminded several times today of Elizabeth Anderson’s excellent paper on lay understandings of scientific testimony (as I read about climate change denial & homeopathy) & her apt discussion on identifying unreliable & dishonest testimony.

I read a load of other stuff too, that was also...odd. There are some strange folks in academia.
