People say this sort of thing about "male culture", but it is utterly divorced from how I experienced it as a young man. I always viewed it as something of a miracle if a woman showed any interest, and the idea I was somehow owed sex... unfathomable.https://twitter.com/steveniweiss/status/1058944215726678016 …

This is it. There are diff micro cultures, diff families. The male entitlement thing is real, it's just not universal

I worry greatly about anyone who considers “male culture” a meaningful concept. (It’s both historically and geographically myopic, to begin with.) Oh, and when I say “worry greatly”, I mean to say that I think they are a fool, and in all likelihood an irredeemable one at that.

Then you aren't thinking very deeply or honestly. What do you think is meant by "culture" in this context? That all men eat, drink and have the same holidays? You can't really think that. What is meant is a shared experience and interp of the patriarchal system

The observation is that within this shared system men have varied experiences based on microcultures, esp within a family. Some are taught entitlement, some are not. Some still soak up entitlement but manage to keep themselves in check with reason etc etc.
