Kindness is a much underrated virtue. Seriously, we should all be kinder, even if that doesn't always promote the cause of justice.
Well, particularly when politics is in play. For example, if you press home a rhetorical advantage against a political adversary, that might promote the cause of justice, but come at the expense of kindness.

Is the purpose a rhetorical win or a practical win? Maybe viewing it as a practical win resolves this? Politics seems full of people voting against their real interests, in which case isn’t beating them rather than convincing them the kindest thing?
