Americans really do seem peculiarly keen on labelling things, putting them into categories. I mean really, who gives a fuck whether your own set of political beliefs meet some arbitrary criteria for progressiveness? D'you think you're going to get a merit badge or something?
Or maybe it's just you want to belong to a special club where all the progressive people hang out? It'd be full of the virtuous, a bit like heaven, only with fewer hymns, and more purity policing.
