In the late 1920s, the geniuses in the British Communist Party, under direct instruction from Moscow, implemented a policy called "Class Against Class", which held that their most vitriolic attacks should be reserved for fellow leftists, those not in the CP. /1
Particular venom was directed towards the socialist Independent Labour Party, whose leaders were seen as class traitors, because they were tempting the proletariat away from the true (Soviet) path towards the communist nirvana.
