Has anyone done it for the latter purpose? And what would a relevant, related double standard be?
The fact that Bee is a woman doesn't magically erase the structural and systemic nature of this kind of language. Of course, it would be worse if she were a man, but it's absolutely the standard feminist line that you shouldn't use the word "cunt" in that sort of context.

Of course, you might want to argue that the history of racism, and the kind of imagery employed by Barr is worse. I've no problem with that. But... that doesn't justify the leftist apologetics that are currently all the rage.

Moreover, even if none of that were true, and it is true, you seriously telling me that if Ivanka had called say Nancy Pelosi a cunt on national television that the Left wouldn't be all over it on Twitter insisting that such language denigrates all women? Of course they would.
-
That’s a completely inane analogy. Of course the reaction would be vastly different if Ivanka Trump - a powerful government official - publicly insulted anyone.
-
It's not an inane analogy. Sven, I'm sorry but I think you're out of your depth. Ivanka wouldn't be criticized just coz she was a powerful govt official. She would be criticized because the language would be seen as *harming all women*. That's the line (a line) that'd be taken.
-
Anyway, I'm done. I hope you enjoyed explaining things to me. Your explanation was entirely as I expected, and as entirely unpersuasive as I expected. I think you're a good guy, actually. But about this you're wrong.

The fact that she’s a woman matters profoundly. I guarantee that everyone would be shocked if, say, John Oliver said the same thing. Just like there are different norms re: what white vs. black people can say to black people.
-
No, it doesn't matter *profoundly*. If black people employ the N-word as a denigrating epithet, as the worse thing they can think to say to another black person, then they will absolutely be condemned for it. Bee wasn't reclaiming the word, she was using it in exactly the...

same way that the denizens of the misogynistic alt-right use it. As the worst thing she could say to another woman. Your point is daft. Plenty of black people find the reclaimed use of the N-word problematic, let alone used in an equivalent to
-
the way Bee used "cunt". You don't escape the structural and systemic aspects of misogynistic language just because you're a woman. This is what the notion of "splash damage" is all about. You harm other women if you employ that sort of language.
