These people could really do with a bit of a lesson in the history of feminism. I wonder if they've even heard of what was called "revolutionary feminism" (in the UK), which was probably the dominant activist strand in the late-1970s?

It absolutely explicitly conceptualised men as "the enemy". And revolutionary feminism wasn't an outlier, it was probably activist feminism's main driving force for a decade (and for a time arguably vanquished socialist & liberal variants).

If you don't believe me Google "Leeds Revolutionary Feminists" (for the UK) or "The Furies" - I think - (for the US).

This is not in the least bit out of character for revolutionary feminism. Of course, there was pushback from other feminists against this sort of thing - and I'm not making any judgements about the merit of the position (not my place) - but this wasn't some weird fringe view.pic.twitter.com/DR1mTe7Hmj

If anybody is actually interested in the (UK) history, then check out what happened at the 1978 National Women's Liberation Movement Conference. There were fireworks, and some scholars see the events there as the beginning of the end for the original WLM.

As I said last week, I realize a guy explaining about feminism is a really bad look. But fuck me, people just don't know anything. They think by hanging out on Twitter, reading Buzzfeed and a few blogs, they're experts on feminist theory. Well, they're not, they're hopeless.
