Are you saying you don't understand how this would impact on quality of teaching? In that case, what are you doing writing about HE? I've been one of those precarious teachers. |However hard I tried, however much unpaid overwork I did, students were impacted in all sorts of ways

Not enough time to plan modules properly and build on past experience/feedback, no longterm programme/institution planning with colleagues, no own office to see students, no pastoral continuity, not knowing enough about how a new institution works to help students effectively.

Can we imagine what "a dedicated programming and recruitment unit" would look like? The clue to a university's raison d'être is in the name. The final para is all you need to know about the writer's priorities - so maybe this would work in a polytechnic? We used to have those...
