      A) Modesty discourse and the incel discourse--demanding that gf's be provided to men who can't seem to create consensual relationships--are connected.https://twitter.com/nwarikoo/status/991106392504373249 …

In Dearborn, Michigan, a Catholic high school has a “modesty poncho” for female students to wear at their dance if their dress is too revealing of their bodies. “We are trying focus on the inner beauty” of the girls, said the school’s theology teacher https://on.freep.com/2jiaGKo

      B) Both are about treating women and girls as male commodities, to be controlled for male benefit. More precisely, both modesty and incels are about "tranquilizing" men so that they won't be so violent, implying that men cannot choose to be peaceful and loving on their own.

      C) Both the modesty discourse and the incel discourse are two ways among many by which we try to maintain the male commodification of the female body as a social norm.

      D) Both modesty and incels are children of patriarchy in the sense that they are patriarchy's way of maintaining male sexual dominance by trying to control the conditions under which sex occurs for heteronormative men.

      E) This is blatant under incel ideology (and obviously not mainstreamed), but more subtle within modesty discourse, which passes modesty off solely as respect for self and others.

      F) But modesty functions more honestly as a controlled release of male desire on male terms; it signals self-awareness of sexual power that will be ritually given to a man within the bounds of marriage.

      G) While women help to enforce them, it is ultimately men who decide what these standards of modesty are, what it is down to the tiniest detail that overwhelmingly "tempts" them, signaling precisely to women how to please them (under socio-religious conditions).

      H) Both modesty discourse and incel discourse are about maintaining male control of women by making them irresistible taboo objects of male desire that then by definition are won, dominated, overcome, put into submission.
