If we rely on CO₂ removal, but it is not deployed or is unsuccessful at removing CO₂ from the atmosphere at the levels assumed in scenarios, then society will be locked into a high-temperature pathway https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-much-co2-will-the-world-have-to-remove-from-the-atmosphere/ …pic.twitter.com/BqSGF4F3zv

Yes, particulates are important but uncertain. Some say they could cause a warming of up to 0.5°C if they are mitigated to zero...

Those are the direct effects, secondary effects on clouds and precipitation regimes as well as changes in ENSO cycles indicate even more warming with an upper threshold > 1.2C if stopped immediately, with more carbon cycle feedbacks from tropical rainforests under perm El Nino.

Your graphic has changed? This one I added the Carbon Cycle emissions that are conservatively expected over 50 years in Crowther et. al. more recent studies suggest that this amount could come from temperate forests alone https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/energy-environment/wp/2017/10/05/one-of-the-oldest-climate-change-experiments-has-led-to-a-troubling-conclusion/?utm_term=.4ac4e6ce7893 … when will you add carbon cycle?pic.twitter.com/3aI1iWMGfh

Why is negative emissions synonymous with #BECCS? We should work towards a broader portfolio. Biochar, reforestation, Enhanced Weathering etc. etc. Not solely focussing (or relying) on BECCS

By Society, do You mean, The World Population ? Surely, The World Population, would only be locked into, a High-Temperature Global Warming Pathway, if they are entirely uncaring and disobedient, to the principle of having to reduce, their own use of Carbon Energy. @KevinClimatepic.twitter.com/96ymszGPQi

Is there scientific proof that global temperature will go down, when the #CO2 level goes down from overshoot to below 1,5 degrees, @peters_glen

So if CDR doesn’t happen at the scale needed then the only way to avoid very serious climate disruption is some sort of solar radiation management

Don't rely on CO2 removal or any other one thing. Do everything we are doing now as we stumble into a renewably powered, high efficiency zero emissions economy Geotherapy (https://www.crcpress.com/Geotherapy-Innovative-Methods-of-Soil-Fertility-Restoration-Carbon-Sequestration/Goreau-Larson-Campe/p/book/9781466595392 …) & other carbon draw down techniques can be useful in an integrated system

Can these solutions do the needed CDR? I guess something like this scenario?https://www.nature.com/articles/ngeo1741 …
