Incidentally, this is yet another example of why Canada is such an excellent political laboratory. Our population being a tenth of the US, spread out over the same continent, Establishment deep state & Cathedral elite connections can be examined better. Fewer players to follow.

"Cathedral elite"? You mean archbishops, metropolitans, cardinals and such? Just kidding, I know it refers to the higher levels of the professional-managerial class. It's an inaccurate label some wannabe technocrats came up with to describe those they think are doing it badly.

*shrug* It caught on enough that I’ll continue using it rather than falling down the endless rabbit hole of semantic pedantry, thanks:) We all know the large, complex concept it denotes well enough; no need to muddy the waters.

True but it's based on a the kind of chippy prejudices against the Old World that are part of the problem. Cathedrals weren't built the way Microsoft or IBM builds software; they were built much more like the open sourced software the author was touting: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cathedral_and_the_Bazaar …

When open source software works well (the Linux Foundation) it's like the Orthodox Church, when it works badly, it's like Protestantism (everybody gets to be his own pope).
