This is not so horrifying when you see in the graph that girls don't reach the same level of impulse control they have as 10-11 yo until they are 18.

In the same vein, this article also shows that the average level of impulse control of an 18-yo male is greater than that of a 15-yo female, i.e. the findings aren't so narratively neat.
