I could see that as a way to transition between first and third person. Beckon to the camera, and it moves to the player's position as if thrown. Throw it back, and as it tumbles it might show the cameraman, desperately struggling to keep up as you walk along a narrow ledge.

Between RE7 and Outlast, the "found footage" horror genre is kinda blowing up. I'd have liked to see a cameraman game with a group. Think RE7 crossed with Overwatch or some such.
