I think something like this could work in a VR game. The game within the game is the buggy one and the VR game gets the bugs

Hey, this can be a good story. An outsider enters videogame to find bugs. Videogame charecters don't know they're in a game.

...that could be a lot of fun if your character used the bugs you found in your job to solve puzzles in "real life"
