Imagine a 2 player game where one player begins at the beginning and the other begins at the end. They must make their way forward/backward, they never meet but can exchange information to help each other on the second half of their journey.

Isn't this pretty much the plot The Doctor and River Song shared together? well, plus some *spoilers*..

Maybe it should be at least random elements like enemies spawn points, enemies patrol paths, objectives positions; a few portions of the level could be procedurally generated. It has to be well balanced with the right difficulty level.
