Peter, I'm sorry, but I can't keep silent any longer. You didn't make the game that made it all possible. Nintendogs came out three years earlier, and it's clear that your later work was inspired by that purity of vision. Please, don't trash your legacy like this.
As previously mentioned, sure some games allowed you to pet a dog before Fable 2 but like Nintendogs it was always a binary mechanic. For example petting a dog would +1 a specific parameter value, that's all it ever was before Fable 2.
