The knowledge problem,
@PeterMcCormack. Hayek Your parents don't know what it's like to be you The county doesn't know what it's like to be in your family The state doesn't know what it's like to live in your county The EU doesn't know what it's like to live in your country -
Take a trip to Brussels. Restaurants full of politicians having thousand dollar dinners. They might be from your town, but they’re not there for you.

What is more centralized power structure? An absolute monarchy or a huge construct with dozens of layers like the EU?
-
I know that GB isn't an absolute monarchy. I just picked an extreme to show my point. Power was more distributed when GB was in the EU simply as the EU could influence GB law making.

I’d actually argue that the EU decentralizes power from the national governments. Since the EU does not have wide powers (not as wide as national states), it is not replacing a state. On the other hand, member states need to consult and cooperate more, pooling decision making.
-
And this is the reason UK left. They were not happy that decisions have to be made with their partners. That cooperation sometimes means compromise. “Take back control,” am I right? Essentially, “centralize the power back in our hands.”
