We’re hearing reports American #antivax ringleaders may have a role in this new devastating #measles epidemic in Samoa? So far 22 deaths, all but one under 5. Similar to predation we saw earlier in NY that landed 18 in ICU? This requires investigationhttps://www.tvnz.co.nz/one-news/world/child-measles-deaths-mount-in-samoa-anti-vax-movement-being-blamed-outbreak-v1 …

In 1918 Samoa was devastated by flu when the NZ administration allowed the disease to come ashore, calling it 'nothing serious', despite being aware of the pandemic. We were supposed to have learnt something from that.

It's not easy at all to prevent the spread of measles or the flu anymore, the disease can start to spread up to 4 days before the onset of symptoms and it takes just hours for a seemingly healthy person to travel by plane to a different continent. Only the vaccine can prevent it.

Maybe it doesn’t work. What strain was it?

The vaccine is good against every strain in circulation. It's not 100% effective, but it's close.
