given that he is a young cob ~ I am going to assume it was pikeys. They are known for leaving horses on grounds they don't own through the winter & later collect what's left standing & worth while, this would fit in with his weight & having been attacked by a dog

Sorry to say, according to the article, his injuries were so severe he was PTS. Don't suppose the law will provide any justice, let's hope karma does.

According to the article it was euthanized to stop the suffering. Given its type I'd guess a certain community that are known for abandoning sick horses. They won't face the consequences, they never do
