That’s not what defunding the police means. That’s not what the word “defund” means. To defund is to stop paying for something, entirely.

Even if we were to fully defund the police (which may be the best avenue), we would replace it with alternative programs that do a better job, one of which would be a much smaller and properly trained group authorized to use force in those rare cases that need it.

Serious question, what happens when a wellness check or maybe a call out to a domestic dispute goes sideways and a social worker gets attacked. Would it be better to pair them up or is it something a social worker goes to alone? Mental health needs better attention
