Heroin laced with the lethal synthetic opioid fentanyl is killing older African Americans who had learned to use with relative safety. @whitneyshefte and I spent time with one such couple in Southeast DC. They've used for 30 years. Twice in the last 2 years one has OD'd.
Same playbook from the 70s. Honorable mention to the vilification of crack use in our community in the 80s and the bad decision made by Bill Clinton. JMHO.
