Respectfully, where is the American Heartland located exactly in your mind as you write this tweet? Does it include Compton and other places like it? Because us folks from those places would like a president shaped by our vision too. Serious question. Would love an answer.

86 percent of Americans live in metropolitan areas. Suggesting that "heartland" voters (white rural folks) are somehow more American than the majority of the country is a tough thing for me to rationalize...

You are smarter than this, which makes me think someone else thought this was a good tweet from your account. It is not. The vast majority of folks in DC came from elsewhere in the US. Claiming only small white states represent the rest of us is both facile & not a little racist.

I live in "the heartland" and I am SOOOO tired of hearing that "real Americans" come from the heartland. 80% of Americans live in urban areas. Maybe it's time to recognize that city folk are "real Americans?"
