Straight white guy here
I am backing mayor Pete because I believe he has the talent and the skills to govern this great nation. I don’t really care who he comes home to at night. Nor should anyone else. But his husband seems like a pretty awesome guy.

If photo ID's are required for voting, the state should be required to provided them free of charge.
-
Senator Shaheen's letter addresses college students. They all have photo IDs issued by the university.
-
Which by the current laws does not allow them to vote. You have to have an NH residency ID, which cost $10 or $50 if you drive. This means all the college students that live here 9+ months out of the year, can’t vote here.
-
There are 15,000 students in Durham and 16,000 residents. Would you want people with no roots in the community electing selectmen, school board, setting your tax rate at town meeting? Even NH residents vote in their home community.
-
Students absolutely have roots in the community, unless you think spending 75-100% of your time for 4 years is inconsequential.

They're being suppressed because the reality is that this party despises the idea of democracy or an even playing field, and and they also understand that young people represent the biggest threat to making their party extinct.

Tell me, if someone is a legal resident of one state, but physically in another for college, where should they vote?
-
It's your permanent address...

One of the proudest moments of my life is when I turned 18 and voted for the first time! It’s important to keep voting easy for ALL Americans!

Wait, so if an 18 year old legal resident of NH is attending Notre Dame in your town, you’re saying they should be able to vote in Indiana?
-
Yes. That's how residency works. I moved to PA for college and one of the first things I did was went to the local courthouse and officially changed my voter registration. I lived there the majority of the year for four years, I have a right to have my voice heard where I live.
-
Did what was required to be eligible to vote. Perfect

-
That's literally what NH students want to do too. This law would require extra steps like changing drivers licence, paying $$$ to change car registration, etc. This literally costs them hundreds of dollars and can take months. It's specifically targeted to keep ppl from voting.
-
It’s a high bar to establish residency in N.H., so what? They have a low bar to vote in the state in which they’re already a legal resident. So where do they really want to vote?
-
There should be the SAME bar. Having different bars is just rigging the system. And discriminatory to a class of voters.
-
50 states, each running their own election is rigging the system?
