Not all of these will be taken into the Collection and will find more suitable homes, but I wanted to give you all a snapshot of the type of material we get to review and the kind we already hold

Finally, we looked at extensive papers relating to Gen CWM Norrie of XXX Corps. Some interesting comments about some big names, and wonderful correspondence with Strafer Gott, who was to take command of 8th Army ahead of Montgomery. Fascinating detail about Corps command

Also rounded out with this report on the 1944 Greek Mutinies produced by HQ MEF. There's a copy of this in for those interested

Obviously outside our remit, but a copy of the RAF report on Op PLAINFARE, the Airlift, including a plan of the "ideal airlift airfield." One wonders how much the modern RAF look to this historic example

Next, a history of the Army Postal Service from the original British Army of the Rhine, including the plebiscites in Schleswig-Holstein and Silesia. A rather hilarious account of a disagreement between Frenchman Georges and Dick from Durham

A good day spent reviewing potential acquisitions. A thread of some highlights of what we saw. First, a complete run of the British Zone Review, the monthly journal created by the CCG and the Army in Germany. Every copy, from first in 1945 to last in 1947

Twitter hive mind; does anyone know when the 16mm No1 MK3 pyrotechnic minfoare pistol was brought in to service with the British Army? Any Cold War Warriors remember using it, or was it later? Thanks!

One of my brilliant colleagues has just told me that my book is in the top 5 books sold in the shop since it was published, and that in December it was the second-best selling item behind the guidebook. And now the sun is shining a little brighter.....

Writing object labels today. Always a (fun) challenge of exhibitions, trying to compress the stories and information into simple, easy to digest text that appeals to those who that are expert, those who know nothing, and everyone in between

My grandmother and great aunt were evacuated from South Shields to Cumbria to escape the bombing. Some eye opening stories. Their mother ended up moving to them and setting up life there rather than continue to be separated

And that's a wrap on the conference. Great couple of days, it's brilliant to see the field is in such rude health. Thanks to , , and others for organising, and to the other presenters for fascinating papers

Final paper on this panel at from Alexander Gogun has, with greatest respect to other panellists, the best title I've heard in a long time: "Voices of the Apocalypse" looks at Soviet speeches and songs as "A Harbinger of World War III." Punchy!
