Aside from routine commercial rivalry, the only issues people identify as a source of Sino-American tensions are entirely concerned with China's internal affairs and the country's local territorial disputes. None directly involve America at all and thus shouldn't concern us.
To speak of matters in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Xinjiang, or the South China Sea, as if they are significant American concerns that need to be pressed against China is to use imperialist logic. Whatever concerns one might have, these are simply not vital strategic interests.
When people point to the Blizzard and NBA situations or Confucius Institutes, it is notable that these strictly involve China defending itself with what leverage it possesses against Westerners injecting themselves into China's internal affairs or casting aspersions against it.
It really does take a perverse view of the world to see a country or its people impeding foreigners from meddling in their affairs and view that as aggression against foreigners. Also, it is completely hypocritical in light of all the fussing over "foreign meddling" in the West.
