    This isn't just good advice for teaching. It's good advice for Life.

    A reminder for teaching: It is important to 1) ask open-ended questions 2) WAIT A FULL FIVE SECONDS FOR SOMEONE TO ANSWER. I cannot tell you how many times someone raises their hand on the 5th second. It might feel awkward at first, some this has been a gamechanger for me.

    Tip for women in tech: You probably already do a quick scan of emails to look for typos and other mistakes. Use that same time to edit out phrases that soften your points, excuse something that doesn't need to be excused, apologize when no apology is needed.

    Singing along to an Aretha playlist today :'{ and realized I could change one word in her lyrics, into "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Human" and it works. A song that used to bug me now feels good. Hopefully the Queen wouldn't mind. <3

    Dear restauranteurs, Requiring your waitstaff to substitute the verb "enjoy" in place of other words and phrasings does not actually inspire me to feel that way. Quite the opposite in fact.
