    Just celebrated Mass w/the Hispanohablantes in Ox’s Catholic chaplaincy. A wonderful woman from Mexico, Hada, made fresh tamales. Mexican food lovers in England know that this is a *major deal*! 🇲🇽🙏🏼 🌮 Hada brought ingredients from Mexico to celebrate today!

    So if you’re Catholic and worry that people don’t go to church anymore (or don’t follow Church teachings), recall that the Catholic Church is nested at the 🎯of other communities of belonging - a complex network of shared schools, hospitals, transportation, post office, etc.

    It annoys me to no end that public infrastructure concerns like this are perceived to be partisan/political incursions on freedom in the US. Care for the environment & common good is not just progressive politics; it’s Catholic Social Teaching bc it embeds us in communities...

    My short stay in England so far has taught me that a robust rail system is an *invaluable investment* Given an apparent loss of autonomy, it ~seems~ impracticable or backwards in US🇺🇸 But I’d welcome its return. Much greener — & more relaxed than sitting in highway traffic ♻️
