Americans look down their noses at many countries’ justice systems as “banana republics”. A “trial” barring witnesses; a failure to call out bribery as it brazenly stares down lawmakers? Guess who has joined the banana republics gang? via

Interesting to see the Bloc Quebecois deciding that it doesn't support the Court Challenges program. For what it's worth, here's a former Bloc MP making the case for the program in 2008.

Well, well, we’ll, there is at least one Republican senator with some integrity.

When he was a cabinet minister, friends & I mused that if you wanted a portfolio to implode, just make the Minister in charge. His track record continues with his leadership campaign.

The Canadian government gives parents money each month, and the program has made a real difference — nearly 300,000 kids were lifted out of poverty in a single year.

So according to the primarily male UCP braintrust, some great places to cut costs include making women travel from their communities to deliver a baby, delisting tubal ligation, carpel tunnel surgery and breast reductions and ....1/2

Clawing back over $600 million from nurses who are - wait for it- primarily women. Someone remind me again why equal representation of women in politics isn’t a necessary thing?

Kenney’s last 3-day / 0 results failed trade mission to Texas cost Albertans $34,000, INCLUDING $11,880 for hotel rooms. That’s $3,960/day to rent 3-rooms.... Kenney states “fiscal responsibility” is desperately required in Alberta - I guess he plays by different rules

The delay in approval was the result of your fed gov (Harper/Kenney) attempting to bypass the consultation process. No mention of that ? Like most good this year, TMX will proceed in spite of your actions, not because of. Can't wait for RCMP to remove you.

I'm surprised at those arguing that it's the media team rather than who is to blame for the interview mess. He's their boss, he wants to be PM, he has authority. They were crass, and he could have overruled them. He didn't.

Last night, Trump gave the Presidential Medal of Freedom to a man who once said slavery “had its merits. For one thing, the streets were safer after dark." But, sure, let’s keep talking about how Pelosi ripping up pieces of paper undermined the dignity of her office etc.

Does the CPC caucus really allow to remain a member after this disgusting comment?

In Edmonton's worst mass murder, Phu Lam killed 8 people in 2014, including his wife and 2 children, then committed suicide. He used a 9 mm handgun that had been registered in 1997 but was reported stolen in Surrey in 2006.

So on the very same day that they've got a motion before the House to hold a committee probe into the alleged murder of a QC sex worker by someone on day parole, the Conservatives deny consent to fast track a bill to require sexual assault training for judges?

Who’s in charge on this team, or the backroom spinners? If the candidate really wants to do politics with more civility (as he claims), he’d better find different backroom politicos, because these ones are following a different mandate.
