Equal parts puns, pediatrics, pop culture. I debunk vaccine myths like Spock & McCoy combined. Yes, I’ve read the inserts. Opinions mine. #ThisIsOurShot

It’s #VaxFactsFebruary day 26. Antivax websites love to list scary adverse events listed in package inserts. But if you actually read the insert, it says they are events *not shown to be caused by the vaccine*. #readingforcomprehension #vaccinesworkpic.twitter.com/EjNvUgM6Bo

Well, we all know the reading attention span of antivaxxers never goes beyond the length of abstracts, and comprehension is limited to cherry picking words that confirm their bias 😉

The length of abstracts? I'd gained the impression that some of them don't get past the title.

Are you saying the car accidents, suicides, drownings and gun deaths listed on some inserts aren’t caused by the vaccines?

Seems pretty straightforward: From MMR insert: “In women, incidence rates for arthritis and arthralgia are generally higher than those seen in children (children: 0-3%; women: 12-26%), and the reactions tend to be more marked and of longer duration.” https://www.merck.com/.../pi.../m/mmr_ii/mmr_ii_pi.pdf …

The reason they list all those things in the package insert is because the way the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Act is written, any admitted side-effect is something they can't be sued for. The free-ride of a pharma co's indemnity ends only when unlisted effects occur.

Believe me they're not listing things in the insert to inform you about possible risks. They'd prefer you not read them.
