This is a terrible tragedy and awful end to a brutal year. It is a system failure that resulted in irreversible harm to two families. My heart goes out to the families of the victims. We will hold the man who did this accountable. We will support the families of the victims

We will make changes to ensure that people on parole receive the supervision and structure needed from parole to prevent this kind of tragedy from recurring.https://www.sfchronicle.com/crime/article/Two-pedestrians-killed-in-hit-and-run-in-S-F-s-15839481.php …

San Franciscans shouldn’t have to choose between criminal justice reform and safety. We want both... and I hope we get it

No you can’t. Since you’ve defined “criminal justice reform” as letting everyone out of jail (including sociopaths) you are getting exactly what a thoughtful and reasonable person might have foreseen.

I certainly don't define it that way. But it sure seems like that's how you are defining it. It's not credible to claim that our criminal justice system is working for all. Trying to improve something that isn't perfect is the most American thing we can do.

You are destroying civilization (the former acme of American civilization, in my humble opinion) while patting yourself on the back for “trying hard.” You are making up random crap akin to “give all kids trophies” and assuming they are good ideas, just because it feels pleasant.
